A Little Perspective For Some of You

I have no i-anything. I don't even have a new phone. I don't have cable tv or netflix. I didn't even have a working tv for several weeks. I don't have a dslr camera. I don't have a laptop computer. I don't have a video camera. I don't have a blue ray player. I don't get manicures or pedicures and I get nothing waxed. I don't get my hair professionally cut or colored. I don't own a home. I don't own a minivan or suv. I don't buy new clothes for myself unless something gets a hole. My children's clothes are all hand-me-downs or gifts from others.

The car I have has bald tires. The phone I have freezes and/or needs a hard reset at least once a day. The tv I have is used, bought at a deeply discounted price. The computer I have is old, was used when we got it, and freezes and/or turns itself off at least once a week.

My husband's job requires him to work 48 hours a week, half of which are at night. He volunteers 24 hours a week on top of that.

I am solely responsible for grocery shopping, making sure the bills get paid, cleaning the house, planning and preparing meals, taking care of the kids (feeding, dressing, showering, clipping nails, brushing hair, etc), homeschooling, taking the kids to activities (piano, kung fu, swimming, awana, youth group...), making and taking the kids to doctor and dentist appointments, doing the laundry, disciplining the kids, and handling anything else that comes up in our family's lives.

Forgive me for rolling my eyes when you, with your iphones, ipad, cable tv, new car, new laptop, fancy camera, new clothes, house cleaner, husband who's home half of everyday of the week, and kids in school all day, complain because you can't afford something trivial.
